Meet Lynn Jones

Somatic EMDR and Holistic Trauma Therapist

Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (IL) | Licensed Mental Health Counselor (MA, NY) | Licensed Professional Counselor (MI)

Here, at Adaptive Wellness, I believe that you already have what you need within you to live the life that you want. Together we will explore ways you can adapt your current lifestyle and release your past, so you can walk into tomorrow feeling fully yourself.

With a background in Integrative Mental Health and specialized training in Somatic EMDR, I bridge the gap between clinical psychology and body-based healing. My approach is deeply informed by Polyvagal Theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS), providing a regulated, safe container for women navigating complex medical mysteries, course corrections and relational trauma.

What’s it like to work with me?

I’m honest, empathetic, and I notice things. I’m going to call you on your B.S. but you might not realize it, because we’re going to do it gently. Showing up in therapy is vulnerable, and we’re going to explore the hard stuff, not battle it. Working together, we will find ways for you to feel empowered, strong, and grounded.

I have specialized training in Somatic EMDR and Integrative Mental Health. I really love talking about the nervous system, and we will likely also talk about how different parts of you are showing up. You don’t have to know what you’re doing when you’re coming to therapy, I’m here to walk with you every step of the way.

    • I think play is important, yes, even for adults

    • I’m going to ask you to do some eccentric things, and I bet we will find fresh ways of being in the novelty.

    • We’re likely going to laugh, even when things feel difficult.

    • And if the direction we’re taking doesn’t feel like it’s working, we’ve got plenty of others to try

    • and find joy, peace, and safety in their bodies

    • We’re not just going to talk about your thoughts and how to change them, we’re going to talk about your body, how and why it's showing up the way that it is, and how you can shift and grow.

  • So if it fits with what you are working on, you will definitely be getting my newest updated tidbits on the regular

    • And help you make the connections that you’re too close to see yourself

    • I’m going to tell you what I know, let you make the decisions, and help you figure out the sticky parts in the follow through

I Specialize In Supporting

  • When all the doctors you’ve seen can’t seem to find anything wrong, and are feeling baffled. Maybe they’ve told you “you should see a therapist” or maybe they’ve just implied “Its all in your head.”

As a therapist for chronic illness and unexplained physical symptoms, I help you navigate the impacts of knowing you don't feel right without having answers. Whether you're dealing with somatization or medical mysteries, you are not crazy.

Let's work together to understand the language of your body and what it's trying to communicate to you."

  • You’ve worked really hard to get to where you are, you look around and are proud of your hard work, yet are realizing this is not exactly what you had dreamed life might look like. You’re working long hours at an emotionally draining job and are coming home, crashing on the couch and hoping there are left overs you can heat up for dinner, or ordering out yet again. You’re looking down the road and not wanting the next 10 years to look like the last 10 years. You wonder: could I just run away from this all and travel the world? or at least do something that feels meaningful?

  • You’ve lived some life and figured out how to function fairly well despite it all. But now, as you are gaining space from whats happened in life, you are realizing that reminders of the things you’ve experienced are showing up in your body at unexpected times in unexpected ways. You keep telling your self “I’ve made peace with that” but are wondering now if maybe you’ve just been ignoring it.

You're likely a good fit for working with me if:

  • You have a gut feeling something needs to change, even if you can't fully articulate it yet.

  • Others have dismissed or minimized your experience, but you know it's real.

  • You're tired of performing a version of yourself that no longer fits.

  • You want to rebuild your life from a place of authenticity, not just survival.

  • You're ready to trust yourself again, even though it feels scary.

  • You value depth over quick fixes.

  • You're willing to slow down and listen to what your body and intuition are telling you.

  • You want a therapist who will meet you where you are without judgment or pressure.

  • You're experiencing unexplained physical symptoms and need support beyond traditional medical care.

  • You're navigating chronic illness and the emotional impact it has on your identity and daily life.

FAQs

  • My approach goes beyond symptom management. I look at the intersection of lifestyle, nervous system health, and emotional history. This is vital for women with medical mysteries, as we explore how physiological stress and relational trauma impact physical well-being.

  • If you're struggling with health uncertainty, navigating identity changes, or feeling disconnected from yourself, therapy can help. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from support. If daily functioning feels harder, self-care isn't creating the shifts you need, or you're carrying experiences that feel too heavy to process alone, therapy offers a space to work through these challenges with someone who truly sees you.

  • I use a holistic approach that honors the connection between mind, body, and spirit. Rather than just talking about what you're experiencing, we explore how it lives in your body and impacts your whole sense of self. This is especially important for women navigating health uncertainty or medical trauma, where the body's experience often hasn't been validated by traditional systems. I trust your inner knowing and work collaboratively with you to find what supports your unique healing journey, both in weekly sessions and intensive retreats.

  • This varies for everyone because healing isn't linear. Some clients find significant shifts within a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support as they navigate ongoing uncertainty or deep identity work. We'll regularly check in about your progress and adjust our work together based on what you need. You're always in control of how long you continue therapy.

With multiple options for therapy session lengths, we will find what helps you feel better, not what keeps you in therapy forever.

  • Many women I work with have had previous therapy experiences that didn't feel right. Sometimes the approach wasn't a good match, the therapist didn't understand health-related trauma, or the focus was only on thoughts rather than the whole body experience. A somatic, holistic approach can feel very different, especially if your previous therapy didn't address how uncertainty and medical experiences live in your body. We can talk about what didn't work before and make sure our approach honors what you actually need.

  • That's completely normal, especially when you're navigating experiences that don't fit into neat categories. Many of the women I work with struggle to put their experiences into words, particularly when dealing with medical mysteries or identity disruption. We'll work at your pace, and I'll help you find language for what you're experiencing. Sometimes we'll use somatic practices to access what words can't reach. There's no expectation that you come in with everything figured out.

  • Tears are welcome here. Crying is often your body's way of releasing what it's been holding. There's no pressure to keep it together or apologize for your emotions. This is a space where all of your feelings have room to exist. I'll be right there with you, holding space for whatever needs to come through.

  • No. You're the expert on your own experience. My role is to help you reconnect with your inner knowing, not override it. Together, we'll explore what's happening for you, uncover patterns that might be keeping you stuck, and develop tools that support your unique healing. I might offer perspectives, share somatic practices, or suggest things to explore, but you always have the authority to decide what feels right for you.

  • I am a specialized trauma therapist trained in Somatic EMDR, which integrates body-based awareness into traditional bilateral stimulation. This allows us to process memories that are "stuck" in the body, even when they aren't fully accessible to the thinking mind.

  • Many of my clients are high-functioning women who have spent years in a state of parentification or over-responsibility. We focus on nervous system regulation to help you transition from "survival mode" into a place of authentic peace and safety.

You don’t have to figure this out alone. When you’re ready, I’m here to support you.

Let’s connect.
